Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State have declared unwavering support for the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, dismissing recent controversies surrounding his person as politically motivated and baseless.
The position was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of an emergency meeting of the Ibarapa East PDP Leaders’ Forum held on Wednesday at the party secretariat in Sango, Eruwa.
The meeting, chaired by Hon. Adewuyi Ojoawo, focused on recent political developments in the state, particularly allegations linked to the Speaker.
In the communiqué, the Forum stated that it has full knowledge of Ogundoyin’s character, pedigree, and integrity, stressing that his conduct over the past seven years in public office has been exemplary.
The leaders maintained that the Speaker could not be involved in any act capable of undermining a government he has consistently supported and served with loyalty.
They noted that stakeholders across Ibarapa Zone and Oyo State have repeatedly attested to Ogundoyin’s leadership qualities, adding that such attributes were reaffirmed during recent consultations on his gubernatorial aspiration.
According to the Forum, these endorsements further validate his credibility and commitment to democratic governance.
Reaffirming their confidence in the Speaker, the PDP leaders expressed strong belief in his ability to continue providing stable and peaceful leadership for the Oyo State House of Assembly.
They emphasized that his track record both within and outside the legislature reflects unwavering dedication to the unity, progress, and development of the state.
The Forum also declared that Ogundoyin could not be associated with any plot to destabilise Oyo State, describing the people of Ibarapa as loyal and dependable, with a long-standing tradition of faithfulness to collective progress.
In addition, the leaders reaffirmed their unflinching loyalty to the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, pledging continued support for his efforts in sustaining development and good governance across the state.
The communiqué strongly condemned what it described as attempts by external forces to create disaffection and disrupt the existing harmony between the executive and legislative arms of government.
Such actions, the Forum warned, are calculated efforts aimed at derailing the steady progress being recorded in Oyo State.
Calling for vigilance, the PDP leaders urged party faithful, stakeholders, and residents to resist misinformation, inducement, and divisive agendas that could threaten unity within government and the legislature.
They further charged elected officials to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to the mandate given to them by the people.
The Forum concluded by cautioning against actions capable of dragging the state backward, stressing that the current synergy between both arms of government must be preserved in the interest of sustained development and democratic stability.
The communiqué was jointly signed by prominent leaders of the PDP in Ibarapa East, including Chief Adewale Atanda Alase, Hon. Adewuyi Ojoawo, Hon. Yemi Taiwo, Hon.
