Ibarapakan Bags Another Appointment, Becomes Chairman Nigeria-Romanian Friendship Group
The Nigerian House of Representatives, on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, appointed Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju as the Chairman of the Nigeria-Romanian Friendship Group.
The appointment presents Ibarapakan with the opportunity to further foster and deepen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Romania. He will also work closely with Romanian government officials and Romanian diplomats in order to consolidate relations between the two countries.
The Nigeria-Romanian Relationship Group is dedicated to promoting friendly relations between Romania and Nigeria, which include but are not limited to trade, politics, culture, legislative activities, entertainment and education.
While thanking the Speaker of the 10th National Assembly; His Excellency, Rt Hon. Tajudeen Abbas for finding him worthy of the international role, Hon. (Dr.) Adepoju said the appointment is for the people of Nigeria and that he would not hesitate to harness and leverage the opportunity to protect the image of Nigeria and to defend her interests in Romania and Europe at large.
The lawmaker promised to utilise the appointment to deepen the cordial relationship that already exists between Nigeria and Romania.
He also promised to leave no stone unturned in contributing practicable ideas to help foster a better relationship in the political, economic, cultural, academic and scientific fields of the two nations.
The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character said that Romania practices a bi-cameral legislature and has a common style of trade and culture, which, according to him, will enable him to have a smooth but fruitful conversation with the Romanian authorities in matters relating to growth and development.
