Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has extended his warm congratulations to His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde, on the success of the 12th edition of the Omituntun Ramadan Lecture, held at Ibadan North Local Government Secretariat Car Park, Ibadan, on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Omituntun Ramadan Lecture is an annual programme spearheaded by the Executive Government of Oyo State, Gov. Makinde, to seek divine blessings from God during the holy month of Ramadan.

The initiative brings together Islamic clerics and scholars from far and near across Nigeria.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Thursday, the federal lawmaker described the event as a powerful blend of spiritual reflection and responsible governance.

Hon. Adepoju commended Governor Makinde for the yearly Ramadan lecture even as a man from another religious faith.

According to him, the presentation of a brand-new jeep to the guest speaker at the well-attended lecture, Fadilat Sheikh Jamiu Ajadi Sanusi (AMIOLOHUN), after his impactful lecture is a powerful statement on the value placed on knowledge and moral guidance by the Executive Governor of Oyo State.

The Ibarapa-born technocrat cum politician expressed that the Governor’s announcement of seven brand-new buses to be distributed across different geographical zones of Oyo State to promote Islamic activities will ultimately strengthen community outreach, enhance participation in religious programmes and foster unity among Muslim faithful across the state and beyond.

According to Hon. Adepoju, for the first time, pilgrims will depart for Hajj directly from Ibadan Airport.

He stated that this development, alongside improved logistics, medical support as announced by his leader, reflects the administration’s commitment to easing the burdens faced by intending pilgrims in the state.

He also applauded the Governor for sustaining the Ramadan lecture for twelve years as a personal commitment to giving back to society even long before being elected into any political office.

He described the 12th edition as not only spiritually uplifting but also impactful in tangible ways, reaffirming leadership that blends faith, service and accountability for the progress of Oyo State.

The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character, however, praised Governor Makinde for using the Ramadan lecture to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to retirees.

He cited the Governor’s disclosure that N25 billion out of the N36 billion owed by the previous administration has been paid, describing it as evidence of fiscal responsibility and compassion for citizens who have served the state meritoriously.
