It was a show of joy and excitement on Tuesday in the ancient city of Igangan as residents came out in numbers to express their joy over the reconstruction of the community hall into a modern event centre by Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.
The reconstruction of the state-of-the-art edifice, which commenced on January 5, 2026, saw the total demolition of the old building, where a new building was constructed and expanded.
The new town hall comes with a lot of facilities that were never in the old building, including eight spacious public toilets for both male and female, a section containing more than seven urinals, two offices, stores and others.
The ultramodern event centre was widely received as a special gift from Hon. Adepoju as residents of Igangan showered their blessings on the federal lawmaker.
One of the community leaders who engaged with the media team of Hon. Adepoju on Tuesday, said he had gone to many places in Ibarapa Land and had never seen any hall that was as beautiful as what Hon. Adepoju had just brought to Igangan. The community leader prayed for the lawmaker and promised that the sons and daughters of Igangan community would never let him down in his future aspirations.
Expressing his appreciation to the lawmaker, the Executive Vice Chairman of Ibarapa North, Hon. Bisi Akande, said Hon. Adepoju had done what many people thought would not be possible. The local administrator praised His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his hard work and for giving the people of Ibarapa a representative who truly cares about their welfare and development. According to him, when the project commenced, a lot of people doubted its completion, resulting in many arguments both online and within the community. He expressed that the completion of the project had not only brought joy to the people of Igangan but had also made Hon. Adepoju earn the trust of the people of Igangan as a leader who makes promises and fulfils them.
In his statement, the Asigangan of Igangan Land, HRM Oba Rafiu Ariwoola Olaniyi Adeniyi, commended Hon. Adepoju for honouring the Igangan community with the magnificent project. According to the monarch, what endears Hon. Adepoju to him is the fact that there is no time he is called on the phone that he would not pick the call.
The traditional ruler said he would not speak much as community sons and daughters had already said everything. He prayed for the success of the lawmaker and his future aspirations, stating that in his own reign as Asigangan, Ibarapakan had brought many good things to Igangan and he would never take such for granted.
Recall that Hon. Adepoju had said in April this year that no kobo had been paid to the contractor who handled the project, as the 2025 budget remained completely unimplemented by the federal government, but expressed hope that the federal government would do the needful.
Commenting on the project, Hon. Adebayo Adepoju appreciated the people of Igangan for giving him the mandate to serve. He congratulated the community on the newly reconstructed modern event centre and expressed that the facility would also boost the economy of the community when people come from far and near to host their events in the hall.
He urged the community to maintain the project, stating that he still had a number of projects on the way for each of the communities in the constituency, while praying for the federal government to implement the 2024, 2025 and 2026 budgets so that these projects are fully facilitated.
