Ibarapakan Doles Out N1.5M Transportation Fare for Beneficiaries of His Empowerment Programme
Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adebayo, has doled out the sum of one million, five hundred thousand naira (N1,500,000) to beneficiaries of the ongoing skill acquisition and empowerment programme he facilitated in the federal constituency.
The lawmaker, who was received amid applause and standing ovation into the Aridunnu event hall, Igboora, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, expressed gratitude to the people of the constituency for their support and level of cooperation since the commencement of the skill acquisition and empowerment programme on Friday.
The 4-Day Skill Acquisition and Empowerment Programme is designed, monitored and evaluated by the Centre for Management Development (CMD).
Addressing the beneficiaries, Barrister Uche Nwani, who is the Director of CMD, Lagos Operational Office, told the constituents in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North to consider themselves fortunate to have Hon. Adepoju as their representative.
He explained that the commission has not been paid by the Federal Government of Nigeria for the initiative, noting that Hon. Adepoju is spending his personal money to fund the programme because of his keen interest in the initiative for the benefit of the people of his constituency.
Speaking at the event, the Director assured the people of the constituency of many of the initiatives, adding that Hon. Adepoju has distinguished himself as a lawmaker who means well for his people.
In his own address, Hon. Adepoju thanked the beneficiaries of the initiative, announcing that apart from the series of federal government projects and social intervention programmes he had successfully facilitated for implementation, four other individuals will be receiving appointment letters into various agencies and parastatals of the federal government of Nigeria in the next few days.
He recognised the significance of computer literacy in the 21st century as the need for the programme, saying that both the old and the young need at least basic knowledge of computer applications and technology to be able to do well in their business, education and other life endeavours.
The lawmaker disclosed that he felt the burden that transportation fares might have placed on the beneficiaries of the skill acquisition and empowerment programme from Igangan down to Igboora; he, however, released the sum of N1.5 million to aid easy transportation of the beneficiaries, with the sum of N10,000 for participants from Igangan, Tapa and Ayete and N5,000 each for constituents from Idere and Igboora.
