Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has conducted a free medical outreach for constituents in the constituency.

The well-participated event, which spanned five communities, commenced in Ibarapa Northwest LCDA, Igangan, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, where a throng of residents gathered to receive healthcare services from a team of medical professionals. As promised by the federal lawmaker, the exercise was also held at the Ibarapa North Local Government Secretariat, Ayete, on Friday, May 23, 2025, capturing the people of Ayete and Tapa, while the final day of the event was held at the Ibarapa Central Local Government Secretariat, Igboora, to serve the people of Idere and Igboora.

According to Hon. Adepoju, the initiative is part of his commitment to providing healthcare access to underserved communities, increasing awareness about different health issues, and offering preventive care and early intervention, as well as fostering community engagement and health education.

Commenting on the success of the three-day free medical outreach, the Ibarapa-born technocrat cum politician appreciated the medical experts for their efforts and dedication throughout the exercise. He also expressed gratitude to all key stakeholders in the five communities for contributing to the success of the initiative, including His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, “whose commitment to bridging the gap in rural communities’ access to healthcare services in Oyo State aligns with the outreach.”

Hon. Adepoju also thanked the Federal Government of Nigeria and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) for making it possible to facilitate the initiative to the people at the grassroots level.

The services rendered to constituents in the five communities during the medical outreach included: eye care services (screening of common causes of blindness, e.g., Cataract and Glaucoma), treatment of Conjunctivitis, minor surgeries where required and provision of reading glasses; dental care services (scaling and polishing, simple tooth extraction and other oral care); mental health and drug abuse (information, education and counseling; treatment and linkages to advanced care); health talks on key household practices; public awareness creation for NPHCDA, including Maternal and Child health, routine immunization, Ante Natal Care Services; laboratory services and screening (Diabetes, Hepatitis, HIV) and treatment/linkages/referrals and general Outpatient Consultation and Treatment (GOP-Care).

The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character, however, urged all the beneficiaries of the outreach to follow the medical experts’ advice and instructions regarding the use of materials provided during the exercise.
