Ibarapakan Lauds Court Verdict Affirming PDP Convention

Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has described the Friday judgement of the Oyo State High Court validating the 2025 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan as a defining moment for Nigeria’s democracy.

Reacting shortly after the ruling, Hon. Adepoju said the decision had finally put an end to months of legal battles surrounding the party’s national convention.

He noted that the court’s pronouncement reaffirmed that lawful processes and constitutional guidelines remain the bedrock of party administration in a democratic setting.

The federal lawmaker stressed that the verdict was not merely an internal party victory but a political triumph for multiparty democracy in Nigeria.

According to him, attempts to discredit or destabilise the convention were part of political manoeuvres aimed at shrinking the democratic space and weakening opposition voices ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Ibarapa-born technocrat cum politician commended the presiding judge for what he called courage and fidelity to justice, adding that the judiciary had once again demonstrated its role as the last hope of the common man.

Ibarapakan also praised his leader, His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde, for remaining resolute throughout the legal contest.

He noted that Makinde’s composure and insistence on due process reflected responsible leadership at a time when certain forces are determined to push Nigeria toward a one-party system.

Addressing members of the PDP nationwide, the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character declared that the party remains united and focused despite recent distractions.

He urged leaders and supporters to see the judgement as an opportunity to rebuild trust, consolidate structures and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections.

He reiterated that the PDP remains the most formidable political platform in the country, capable of winning elections at all levels.
