“In 2022, Makinde Directed Aspirants from Ona-Ara to Stepdown for Olayemi in Egbeda, in 2027 OTOPE is our Candidate – PDP Leaders from Egbeda Insist
In a significant development, Egbeda local government leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have thrown their weight behind Hon. (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji, popularly known as OTOPE, is their candidate for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on behalf of the Egbeda local government leaders at the declaration of Hon.(Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji’s candidacy, Pastor Olamoyegun Judah, the immediate past Egbeda PDP party chairman, revealed that Governor Seyi Makinde had instructed the Ona-Ara local government to step aside for Egbeda to produce a candidate in the 2023 National Assembly Election.

According to Pastor Olamoyegun, this decision was made at a meeting with the Governor at the Governor’s House, in the presence of party leaders, including Chief Waheed Adurodekun and other leaders. He emphasized that Egbeda local government did not betray OTOPE in 2023 and would not betray him in 2027.

“We convey the regards of our overall leader, Elder Wole Oyelese, to all leaders in Egbeda and Ona-Ara local governments,” Pastor Olamoyegun said. “In the 2022/2023 political dispensation, we in Egbeda local government did not betray Dr. Temitope Oladimeji.
“In fact, we were preparing for a primary election when, at a meeting with Governor Seyi Makinde, he instructed Ona-Ara to step aside for Egbeda to produce a candidate.”
Pastor Olamoyegun quoted a legendary Nigerian singer-songwriter and musician, late Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister’s song, saying “Ani Ogbon Ni, Sugbon A O Ni Agbara” (We have wisdom but we don’t have power).
He prayed that those who feign support for OTOPE while harbouring ill intentions would not live to see their plans come to fruition.
“We assert that it is OTOPE’s turn to represent Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency,” he said. “His track record justifies this claim.
Despite being asked to step aside in 2023, he intensified his philanthropic efforts, extending support beyond Egbeda/Ona-Ara. Even those serving as Federal Representatives would not match his good works.”
Pastor Olamoyegun explained that Egbeda local government was prepared to fully support OTOPE to secure the ticket, not because they lacked capable representatives, but because their leaders agreed that betraying him would be unjust. He noted that no other candidate had emerged from the Egbeda local government, and assured Hon.(Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji OTOPE that Egbeda leaders, including Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele and Chief Mrs. Jumoke Lawal (Iya Pineapple), supported his ambition and would work towards his success.
“I assure PDP members present here that everything is under control; there is nothing to be fair about party issues,” Pastor Olamoyegun concluded.
Hon. (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji’s candidacy has been widely welcomed by Egbeda local government leaders, who believe his track record and selfless service make him the ideal candidate to represent the constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.
