The Ipapo Community in the Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State has officially handed over a 20-acre parcel of land along the Iseyin/Ipapo road to the state-owned Pacesetter Mineral Development Company Limited (PMDC) on May 21, 2025.

The land will serve as the base operational headquarters

The handover ceremony took place following a brief meeting at the Palace of Eleyinpo of Ipapo, led by HRM Oba Yekeen Ademola Abioye II and the PMDC team, which included Hon. Abiodun Oni, the Executive Chairman of PMDC, and the Director-General of the Oyo State Mineral Development Agency (OYSMIDA).

During the ceremony, Barrister Abiodun Ogunjinmi, a community leader and legal adviser to the Ipapo community, reaffirmed the community’s commitment to the administration of His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde and his development programs aimed at uplifting the entire state and enhancing the welfare of its people.

He assured both the state and PMDC of the community’s support, including security for the workshop, equipment, and workers. In return, the community requested goodwill gestures, collaboration, and further development initiatives.

Hon. Abiodun Oni expressed gratitude on behalf of the government and PMDC, thanking the community and its elders for their generosity. He praised Oba Abioye for his dedication to his people and the state government, promising to use the land judiciously and emphasizing the trust placed in them.

In his closing remarks, Oba Yekeen Abioye II thanked the state government and prayed for strength, wisdom, and honour for the governor, as well as for continued development in the state, the Oke Ogun area, and the Ipapo community.

He assured the government of the community’s full cooperation and collaboration in social, educational, and economic development.

The PMDC Engineering and Equipment Workshop Base in Ipapo is set to become a hub for mining operations, engineering services, and equipment leasing.

Heavy lifting mining equipment belonging to PMDC is expected in a few weeks to augment the already existing exploration and mining projects going on in Iwajowa, Sepeteri, Ilero, Igbeti, Akinyele, Oluyole local governments respectively.
