IWO ROAD MAYHEM: Resident Sends SOS to Governor Makinde to Avert Further Crisis as 2023 Beckons

INSECURITY IN Ọ̀YỌ́ STATE: RISE UP TO THE OCCASION NOW BEFORE SOME MISCREANTS OCCASION YOUR EVICTION.

It is with heavy heart i write this piece this morning, the rationale behind putting this piece together is not far fetched as its no longer news that oyo state was thrown into mourning again yesterday when 2 civilians were killed, many injured, properties looted by unrepentant miscreant that have been disturbing the peace of Ọ̀yọ́ state for almost 2months now.

It’s so disturbing because this has become a re-occuring decimal in Ọ̀yọ́ state.

In the past 2 months, there has been report of killings and maimings of innocent citizens by these unrepentant hoodlums and to our greatest dismay, nothing convincing has been done by your administration to stem the tide of this avoidable violence and to prevent future occurrence.

Dear Governor seyi makinde, we know you operate a populist government, but i want to remind you of one thing, running a populist government is not bad but you shouldn’t forget that the primary responsibility of any government is to protect lives and properties of the citizenry.

Fundamentally, the Civil unrest caused by the PMS at iworoad yesterday is a pointer to the fact that security situation in Ọ̀yọ́ state has worsened under your watch. Without being bias, it wasn’t like this in the last administration.

The inclusion of this formal proscribed union in your administration has been the greatest mistake ever made by your administration. Their inclusion has done more harm than good and the records are there.(ẹ.g the pandemonium at bẹẹrẹ, idi arẹrẹ, agugu, adegbayi, and now iworoad).

Sincerely, there is no perfect government anywhere in the world but where there is constant threat to peace and tranquility in the land, the government needs to check itself and rise up to occasion by filling the security vacuum before such government become unpopular.

Moreso, Oyo State enjoyed undiluted peace during the last administration even though i was not a fan of that administration because the administration failed and punished civil servant by owing them backlog of salaries, but truth must be told, they did well in the area of security.

The past administration never allowed these miscreants hobnob with them and there was peace in Ọ̀yọ́ state through out their reign.

Importantly, this piece is not written to criticize your administration but to tell you that there is an urgent need for you to rise up to the occasion before these disgruntled elements make your administration unpopular.

Your administration has a tremendous record in the area of infrastructural development, educational development and internal revenue generation within a short period.

Governor seyi Makinde, This shows that 2 years is enough to chart a visionary trajectory but i must also tell you that 2 years is also enough to also evict you from the occasion if security of the state continues to deteriorate.

The insecurity in the state could have a negative impact on the state as private investors will no longer see oyo state as a peaceful state where their businesses could thrive due to the every day pandemonium caused by these microscopic miscreants.

MY dear Governor, I laud you for all your outstanding performances in the state for the past 2 years, your achievements are visible to the blind and audible to the deaf but surprisingly, your failure to ensure adequate security for the citizens is also visible to the blind and audible to the deaf.

Permit me to end this piece by reminding you that” the primary pedagogical task of every parent is how to teach his/her children how to accept an uncomfortable fact”.

The earlier you make this Park management staff( PMS) realise this uncomfortable fact that they are the clog in the wheel of Ọ̀yọ́ state progress, the better for your administration.

Though we need union in the transport sector, but a level headed union that must be regulated by a body under the auspices of the government and not a blood sucking union that we are presently witnessing.

Engineer seyi makinde, i implore you to find a lasting, holistic and sustainable panacea to this re-occuring unrest in the state to save your administration from being evicted from the occasion and also save lives of innocent citizens from being cut short.

May God in his infinite mercy guide you aright.

Amen!

GOD BLESS FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
GOD BLESS Ọ̀YỌ́ STATE
GOD BLESS UNIVERSITY OF CALABAR .

Yours sincerely,
