In a remarkable demonstration of community leadership, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, the Jagunmolu Olubadan of Ibadanland, sponsored a two-day health awareness workshop for over 500 market traders and artisans in Oyo State.

The event, held at the prestigious Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort in Akanran, transformed the Ona Ara Local Government area into a vibrant hub of health education and empowerment.

Chief Sanusi’s initiative, aimed at promoting fire safety and cholera awareness, was officially flagged off by the Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS.

The workshop featured prominent speakers including Engr. Funmi Obisesan, President of the Funmi Obisesan Development and Empowerment Initiative (FODEI), and Sanitarian Popoola Rashidat, Director of Environment at Ona Ara Local Government, who provided vital instructional materials and insights.

The ceremony, graced by dignitaries such as the Babaloja General of Oyo State (represented by Alhaji Yisa Kolayode and Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje), emphasized the critical importance of water testing, chlorination, and hygiene practices in preventing cholera.

Chief Sanusi took the opportunity to praise Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to public health infrastructure and resources, which have been instrumental in combating cholera outbreaks in the region.

Engr. Obisesan, a health and safety specialist, highlighted the deadly nature of cholera and the essential role of community awareness in its prevention. She stressed the need for communal ownership of health initiatives, noting that workshops like these empower individuals with the knowledge to safeguard their communities.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Oyo State Market Traders and Artisans, the Babaloja General of Oyo State, represented by Alhaji Yisa Kolayode, lauded Chief Sanusi’s unwavering dedication to community development.

He acknowledged Sanusi’s relentless efforts in supporting various initiatives and encouraged continued support for his future endeavors, praying for divine success in his ambitions.

The event concluded with the issuance of certificates of participation, signed by Engr. Funmi Obisesan and Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, to all attendees.

The market traders and artisans also collectively expressed their strong support for Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi to run for Oyo State Governor in 2027, underscoring his impact and leadership within the community.

Dignitaries in attendance included the Vice Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Hon. Windapo Oluwole, SSA to the Governor on SDG, Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi, Oyo PDP Leader, Alhaji Waheed Ajao Adurodekun, Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Iyaloja of Oyoland, and Iyaloja of Ogbomosho Land, among others.
