Leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the Southwest have converged on Agodi, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The Zonal meeting will be presided over by the leader of the party in the zone, His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
One of the leaders of the party in the zone who spoke with GOALPOACHER NEWS at the venue noted that the meeting became necessary with the view to affirming Governor Makinde as the leader of the party in the zone and to chart a way forward ahead of subsequent election governorship elections in the zone and the 2023 general elections.
Delegates at the meeting include former Governors of Osun and Ekiti, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Segun Oni, Former Deputy National chairman, Chief Bode George, Senator Kofoworola Bucknor.
Others expected are Senator Ademola Adeleke,Ladi Adebutu and others.
As at press time, delegates from other states had arrived the venue of the meeting while the meeting Commenced in earnest.
However, former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose was conspicuously absent. His absence may not be unconnected with the leadership crisis rocking the party in the zone.
