

One of the punching arms of Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, Hamsat Rasheed, popularly known as Omigborotiti, has resigned from his position as Special Adviser to the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, as well as his membership of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Rasheed’s resignation as Special Adviser was contained in a letter dated August 19, 2026, addressed to the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly.
In the letter, titled “Resignation as Special Adviser,” Rasheed said his decision followed due consultation and careful consideration of his health.
He wrote, “Following due and comprehensive consultation and careful consideration of my health, I wish to respectfully tender my resignation as Special Adviser to the Honourable Speaker, with effect from 19/08/2026.”
Omigborotiti expressed appreciation to the Speaker for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity given him to serve, saying he was grateful for the privilege, trust and support extended to him throughout his service.
He added, “I sincerely appreciate Your Honour for the confidence reposed in me and the opportunity given me to serve. I am deeply grateful for the privilege, trust, and support extended to me throughout my service.”
His resignation from the Speaker’s office comes alongside his decision to leave the APM, where he had been politically active. He did not disclose further details on his reasons for quitting the party.
Rasheed’s resignation takes effect from August 19, 2026, bringing his tenure as Special Adviser to an end while also marking his exit from the APM.
