    JUST IN: Oyo Approves N500m Grant for Abiola Ajimobi University, N850m for Sugar Factory

    The Oyo State Government has approved half a billion naira as capital grant for Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan.

    The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Saliu Adelabu, made this known while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the executive council meeting presided over by acting Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal.


    Briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by the Acting Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal, Professor Adelabu assured that the five hundred million Naira grant provided by the state government to the Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, would aid accreditation of the institutions’ old and new programs for 2024/2025 academic session by the National Universities Commission.

    The commissioner, also revealed that the state government approved another over 900 million naira as counterpart fund to partner with World bank who had through BESDA donated 1 billion naira to the state.

    According to Prof Adelabu, the fund aiming to boost educational development of the state would be used to eradicate out of school children, upgrade infrastructures and renovation of school structures across the state.

    Also speaking, the State Commissioner for information and orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade hinted that the state executive council also approved investment of 850 million naira as an equity participation in a brown sugar factory project at Idiya village in Iseyin being developed by Oyo Sugarcane Processors Limited.

    While assuring that the state would unlock the huge economic potential of the project, Prince Oyelade expressed optimism that the company would provide employment opportunities to thousands of the state unemployed youth when it attains stable operations.
