Korea Partners Oyo Government on Digital Education, ICT Equipment For New Model School
The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has expressed readiness to offer its support especially through its intervention in Model School in Ibadan, Oyo State.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Country Director, Woochan Chang when he led the officials of his agency and Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC), on a courtesy call to Governor Seyi Makinde at the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Secretariat.
While Speaking on the purpose of the visit, Woochan Chang says the South Korea Government is partnering with developing countries in the area of digital, technical and vocational education.
He noted that part of his visit was to conduct needs assessment around the model school being constructed by the state government with the intention of supplying state of the art equipment that will aid e-learning.
In his remark, Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde noted that the state Government has a special interest in the intervention programmes, stressing that education remains one of the four pillars of his administration.
Makinde added that his administration will ensure that the quality at the model school which is under construction meets international standard.
The Governor assured residents that students will get the best of education his administration can offer. He said the state desires to have intervention programmes on vocational studies which he noted will help reduce unemployment among the teeming youths.
The officials are in the state to monitor the ongoing construction work on a smart Model School Project being directly constructed by UBEC in Sogunro, along Moniya, Oyo Road, Akinyele Local Government which is one of the 20 in Nigeria.
