The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi, has ordered Commanding Officers across the country to step up ongoing enforcement on restrictions and social distancing amongst vehicle occupants.

This comes on the back of a fourteen-day extension of the Coronovirus lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Oyeyemi wants the officers to totally carry out the presidential directives by impounding at sight, any vehicle found to be in violation of the orders.

In a statement made available by the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, he said the agency is committed to sustenance of the restrictions, in collaboration with state governments.

According to the FRSC boss, the rate of deaths occasioned by the viral infection globally is alarming and not a matter the Corps is going to toy with.

He therefore warned that the commanding officers will fully utilize the work force by deploying personnel to arrest without hesitation, any motorist who contravenes the national order on Stay at home.

He also pointed out that officers are expected to go about their duties with every sense of professionalism.
