Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Governor Seyi Makinde and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo North Senatorial District have approved the nomination of consensus candidates for the thirteen local governments in the zone excluding Ogbomoso North/South/Orire Federal Constituency.
The meeting had in attendance leaders from the zone including Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, former Deputy Governor, Engr Hammed Gbadamosi, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Segun Ogunwuyi, Barrister Adeniyi John Farinto, Chief Saka Balogun, Chief Omokunmi Mustapha, Chief Jacob Adetoro among other party stakeholders.
Accord senatorial candidate in the 2023 elections, Hon Shina Peller was unanimously adopted as the PDP’s flag bearer for 2027.
For the House of Representatives, Hon Abiodun Oni Okunrinjeje, Hon Adeniyi Adebisi and Hon Oyeshina Oyedeji emerged for Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope, Saki East/Saki West/Atisbo and Iseyin/Iwajowa/Kajola/Itesiwaju Federal Constituency.
However, Ogbomoso North/South/Orire Federal Constituency was suspended as leaders failed to agree on a particular candidate.
Goalpoachernews gathered that Hon Akinwole Solomon popularly known as Wolekanle was the preferred choice but he chose not have interest in the House Representatives election. He didn’t submit letter of intent to contest the forthcoming elections.
For the State House of Assembly, Bisi Oluranti who was rejected by the leaders in her local government, citing poor representation was returned by Governor Seyi Makinde for Ogbomoso North State Constituency, while Majority Leader, Hon Sanjo Adedoyin was returned unopposed for Ogbomoso South state constituency.
Others are, Ayinde Sarafadeen Sassay as the PDP candidate for Irepo/Olorunsogo State Constituency, Jimoh Adisa Olabisi (JAO) for Oorelope State Constituency, Salahudeen Kabiru Adebayo for Saki West State Constituency, and Olugbenga George Adetunji for Kajola State Constituency.
Meanwhile, Iseyin/Itesiwaju and Iwajowa state constituencies remain undecided.
