Makinde seeks deeper relationship with US to develop Oyo economy

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Friday solicits a deeper relationship and collaboration with the United States of America (USA).

Receiving principal officers from the United States Consulate, Lagos, on a courtesy visit to Governor’s Office, Governor disclosed that there are plethora of investment opportunities in the state.

On the entourage of the US Consulate are Brandon Hudspeth (Political /Economic Chief and Acting Consul General), Mayowa Obilade (Economic Specialist) and Arnold Abulime (Political Specialist).

The governor urged the US to tap into the opportunities which are abound in various sectors of the state for the benefit of Oyo State and United States.

Makinde said: “It is our pleasure to have you around and have the opportunity to sit down and rub minds together with you on some issues. So, I like to take this opportunity to thank the U.S Government for the support they have been giving to Oyo State over the years.

“Looking through our files, I saw that they have provided a lot of support in the past. For the RAAMP project, U. S is also contributing and assisting us. And I like to also thank you for your concern about the state of things in our country and in Oyo State in particular. Yes, we will continue to shout if we need help and other views regarding some of the challenges we are faced with.

“In the world that we are living right now, with information all over the place, we can only seek to deepen the existing relationship and collaboration between us. We look forward to having you back here.

“We really want to earn that right to have you thinking that rather than go to Lagos Beach, you can think of coming down to Ikere Gorge Dam or suspended Lake at Ago Awaye or come have a quiet weekend in Ibadan. So, those are the kind of things we are looking at over the next year.”
