Makinde’s Aide, Oke-Legacy Formally Declares Intent to Run for Ogbomoso North Assembly Seat

Member, Oyo Local Government Service Commission, Hon. John Adisa Oke, also known as Oke-Legacy, has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly, representing Ogbomoso North State Constituency, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Addressing party leaders, elders, youths, women, and supporters at the party office on Sunday, Oke-Legacy described his ambition as a call to service and responsibility, driven by his desire to provide effective and people-oriented representation.

He highlighted his longstanding commitment to the PDP, citing his previous bids for the House of Representatives seat Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire, in 2019 and 2023, and emphasized his grassroots experience and understanding of the people’s needs.

The aspirant, who was warmly received by the PDP Chairman, Hon. Jimoh Sikiru Idowu, and other party executives and stakeholders, said his decision to seek a seat in the state legislature stems from his desire to provide effective, people-oriented representation.

He reiterated his commitment to the PDP’s ideals and vision, stating that despite the outcomes of his previous bids for the House of Representatives seat in 2019 and 2023 respectively, he has remained steadfast and loyal to the party.

Describing himself as a grassroots politician, Oke-Legacy said he was born and raised in Ogbomoso and understood the needs of the people.

According to him, “With practical and verifiable experience as a two-term member of the Oyo Local Government Service Commission, and also as the Chairman Governing Council of Best College of education and best Legacy Group of school, I’m committed to serving, listening, engaging, and delivering results.

“Through the Oke Foundation, I have supported the community in various ways, notably my decade-long scholarship scheme, which has benefited over 2,000 youths. My welfare programs have left a visible footprint across the 5 local governments in Ogbomoso.

“So, my decision to contest for the state assembly seat follows serious consultations with leaders and stakeholders, and isn’t a rash one.”

He added that his vision for the Ogbomoso North State Constituency focuses on people-centered legislation, prioritizing youth empowerment, small businesses, artisans, education, community development, and party loyalty.

While stressing that the Ogbomoso North State Constituency deserves effective representation, not absentee legislation, Oke- Legacy declared, “We deserve a voice that speaks clearly, courageously, and consistently on the floor of the House.”

He, however, appealed to party leaders and elders for guidance and support, pledging accessible, accountable, and responsive leadership if given the opportunity to serve.

Meanwhile, as a gesture of appreciation, Oke-Legacy donated ₦200,000 to the party leadership, ₦100,000 to support the women’s wing, and ₦50,000 for the youth wing, recognizing their efforts.

He was accompanied by respected leaders and stakeholders, including Alhaji Kabir Akanji, the Immediate Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso North LG; Mrs. Bola Olaniyi, the current Secretary to the Ogbomoso North LG; and Hon. William Odetunde, whose presence demonstrated unity and commitment to the progress of the party and constituency.
