Makinde’s Aide, Open Salawu Distributes Bags of Rice to Party Members Across Ogbomoso Zone
The New Year began on a cheerful and hopeful note for members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso Zone as a prominent party chieftain, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, fondly known as Open Salawu, the Babalaje of Ogbomosoland, distributed 50 bags of rice to party faithful across the zone. Newslamp reports.
The gesture, which has now become an annual tradition, is part of Engr. Open Salawu’s consistent effort to identify with party members and the wider community during festive seasons. This year’s outreach marked the fourth consecutive time the PDP stalwart has extended such support to party members across the five local government areas in Ogbomoso Zone.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Engr. Open Salawu described the initiative as a token of appreciation for the loyalty, sacrifices, and steadfastness of PDP members, particularly in the face of prevailing economic challenges. He emphasised that the welfare of party faithful remains a priority and encouraged members to continue supporting one another.
“Tough times do not last forever. What we are experiencing today is temporary, and with resilience, unity, and faith in our party, better days are ahead,” he said.
The Babalaje of Ogbomosoland urged PDP members in the zone to remain committed and unwavering, despite what he described as deliberate attempts by some forces to stifle the party’s growth and relevance.
“Some people do not want PDP to breathe, but our strength lies in our unity and perseverance. As long as we stay together, PDP will continue to stand strong,” he added.
Party members across the five local governments expressed appreciation for the kind gesture, describing Engr. Open Salawu as a dependable leader who consistently stands with the grassroots.
Many noted that the rice distribution not only eased the burden of the festive season but also boosted morale and renewed confidence within the party.
The event ended on a note of optimism, with calls for sustained unity, loyalty to the PDP, and renewed commitment to the party’s ideals as members look ahead to a stronger and more inclusive political future in Ogbomoso Zone and beyond.
