Makinde’s Aide, Open Salawu, To Donate Annual Salary To Needy Community Members
The Executive Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Project Monitoring, Engineer Muftau Open Salawu has said that he will give his annual salary as support to the needy in his community.
Open Salawu who will be one year in office next month as an Executive Assistant made this known on Wednesday, in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
The Babalaje of Ogbomoso said the gesture is born out of his zeal and passion to serve the people and not for financial gains.
While lamenting the hardship in the country, the Waziri Jari Nupe said that the gesture will be a continuous process yearly adding the beneficiary will be randomly selected.
He added that the disbursement of the first phase will be done next month when it will be a year after he was appointed by Governor Seyi Makinde.
His words: “Yes, I want to give back the salaries to my people again as I have always been doing. This time, I want to give out my annual salary as an Executive Assistant on Project Monitoring to Governor Seyi Makinde to the people.
“This gesture is to further corroborate my saying that I joined politics to serve the people and my father’s land not because of financial gains or whatsoever. We all know how bad our economy is presently and what people are facing. So, I want to in my own way help the people in this present hardship.”
Recall that Open Salawu, a civil engineer and a native of Ogbomoso, was appointed by Governor Seyi Makinde as the Executive Assistant on Project Monitoring.
He was recently appointed to head the newly created Project Monitoring Agency by the Governor.
The agency was established in 2024, and its goal is to ensure that people of Oyo State get value for their money. The agency will also ensure that projects are executed and implemented effectively.
The agency is responsible for conducting periodic inspections of projects, quality control, and issuing certificates of completion.
The agency will also investigate contract awards and execution and report directly to Governor Seyi Makinde.
Open Salawu is a registered member of various professional bodies, including COREN, FNSE, FNICE, FNATE, NIM, and CIWM. He holds a master’s degree in civil engineering.
