The attention of the relevant authorities has been drawn to a news report alleging that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been denied access to use Mapo Hall and its premises for its forthcoming political campaign.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Oyo State Government and the Ibadan South East Local Government Authority wish to state categorically that they have no knowledge of any decision or directive to deny the APC access to Mapo Hall premises for its proposed political campaign.
It is important to clarify that Mapo Hall and its premises are under the management of Ibadan Property, the appropriate authority responsible for handling requests and granting permission for the use of the facility.
Therefore, any political party or organisation wishing to use the premises is advised to approach Ibadan Property through the appropriate channel to make the necessary enquiries and obtain the requisite approval.
Consequently, any claim suggesting that the Oyo State Government or the Ibadan South East Local Government Authority has deliberately denied the APC access to the facility is unfounded, as neither authority is aware of such a decision.
Furthermore, the Alliance Peoples’ Movement (APM) is a peaceful political party that believes in democratic principles, mutual respect, political tolerance and peaceful coexistence among all political parties and their supporters. We believe that the democratic process should be guided by fairness, respect for the rule of law and the peaceful expression of political interests.
We therefore urge the public, political stakeholders and media organisations to verify information through the appropriate channels before circulating reports capable of creating unnecessary tension or misunderstanding.
The Oyo State Government and the Ibadan South East Local Government Authority remain committed to peace, fairness and the maintenance of a conducive environment for lawful political activities.
