The Multidisciplinary Finance Professionals Group under the aegis of MFP Group Nigeria and MFP Global Services led by its President, Dr Prince Oyebade Oyedepo, FCA, JP has today sought further collaboration with the Oyo State Head of Service, Dr Adenike Fasina, mni to deepen financial knowledge through training and retraining of the workforce of Oyo State Government.

According to Oyebade, this is a follow up visit to the proposal earlier made to the former Head of Service in the State, Alhaja Amidat Ololade Agboola and the present Secretary to Oyo State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde to train the workforce of the State on financial matters.

The MFP President congratulated the new head of service in the State and extolled her virtues and qualities. He recounted his personal and official encounters with her to the delight of all present. He prayed for God to grant her wisdom, knowledge and understanding to excel in the new capacity.

Dr Oyebade mentioned that MFP is the acronyms of Multidisciplinary Finance Professionals with the objectives of organizing of workshops, seminars & symposium on financial matters. In his words, “our intention is to deepen financial knowledge in the private and public sector of the economy”.

According to him, MFP have recorded the following achievements;
i. We have organized 9 free public lectures to date; communiques of the lectures were widely publicized.
ii. We have published and launched the first edition of our journal, titled “The Magnet Journal” comprising of 25 well researched articles written by scholars and professionals of high repute
iii. We have created a research and development arm to carry out research on topical national issues in order to assist the Government in taking informed economic decisions based on empirical facts
iv. We have impressive presence in almost all major social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube where we educate and enlighten members of the public on financial matters.
v. We have interacted closely with traditional rulers & top Government functionaries to emphasize the importance of financial knowledge and to seek for their collaboration such as; Former Oyo Head of Service, Alhaja Amidat Ololade Agboola, Current SSG of Oyo State, Professor Musibau Babatunde and Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja
vi. We have sought collaboration with ICAN national body and some district societies of ICAN
vii. We have sought collaboration with the Nigerian Publishers Association (NPA)

Oyebade relayed the following as the upcoming activities of the group;
i. Seek more collaboration with the state Government to deepen financial knowledge right from secondary schools. We need to inculcate financial literacy in students early to imbibe the spirit of self- employment and entrepreneurship
ii. We intend to relate with the legislature and judiciary to deepen their financial knowledge as well. This is because financial knowledge is the bedrock of good governance, without financial knowledge, performance may not be maximized
iii. We plan to partner with members of the fourth estate of the realm to bring financial knowledge to the door step of the people
iv. We are setting up a co-operative thrift and credit society soon.

He further stated that the group is in the process of creating its website and launching an anthem to communicate its vision and mission to the public. The two will be launched soon.
The MFP President sought collaboration with the Head of Service on training and retraining of the workforce of Oyo State.

He assured her of the readiness of the group to be available on advisory capacity to help in the delivery of her good plans.

In conclusion, Oyebade eulogized the Oyo State Government for creating enabling environment for its employees to qualify as Chartered Accountants. In his words, “it is remarkable to know that the State Government has in its employment 69 Chartered Accountants with additional female just qualifying, this is massive and commendable”.

He congratulated the State Government for the feat and encouraged them to sustain the trend.

In her response, the Head of Service, Dr Adenike Ayobami Fasina, mni expressed her sincere appreciation to the team for the courtesy visit and congratulatory remarks. She thanked them for their thoughtfulness and support, stating that the visit meant a great deal to her. She commended the team for their remarkable efforts and stated that she was amazed by the impactful work they are doing.

She also expressed interest in “The Magnet Journal”, assuring the team that she would take time to read the journal and familiarize herself with its contents.

Furthermore, she pledged her willingness to collaborate with the team in promoting initiatives that would contribute to the growth and development of the Civil Service.

The visit ended with the presentation of a gift to the Head of Service as a token of goodwill. The vote of thanks was done by the Accountant General of Oyo State, Mrs Kikelomo Adegoke, FCA, followed by a prayer session for the Head of Service by a Past Chairman of Ibadan & District Society of ICAN, Deacon Samson Ayansina, FCA.

The MFP President was accompanied on the Courtesy visit by topnotch professional accountants and finance experts including, Alhaji Kolawole Ghaffar Bello, FCA, (Executive Assistant to Oyo State Governor on Finance, Budget and Economic Planning), Mr Femi Awakan, FCA, (Executive Chairman of Oyo State Internal Revenue Service), Mrs Kikelomo Adegoke, FCA, (Accountant General of Oyo State), Deacon Samson Ayansina, FCA, (Past Chairman of Ibadan & District Society of ICAN) and Deacon Lucas Omosebi, FCA (Father of Lagelu & District Society of ICAN).
