…… Insists on free and fair election in Edo and Ondo states

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to rise to the mounting challenges and take charge because the country is drowning.

Prince Secondus spoke at the party’s National Secretariat of the party on Thursday when he received the newly inaugurated state Working Committee and leaders of the Ogun state PDP who came to announce the final reconciliation of the warring factions of the party.

The National Chairman said that the situation in the country could have been better if the President was up and doing to his responsibilities but expressed regret that the country was suffering dearth of required leadership at the Presidency.

He used the occasion to also admonish the President to engender peace and harmony in the country by conducting free, fair and credible elections in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Edo and Ondo states.

Prince Secondus said in a that anything short of a free, fair poll in Edo and Ondo states in September and October will amount to invitation to anarchy in the land.

“INEC must conduct elections, military must face their professional responsibilities and avoid getting involved in election matters.

” One clear way of achieving peace in this country is to conduct free and fair election where the people freely chose their leaders.

Prince Secondus said that the President’s trip to Mali recently was in pursuit of peace and harmony in that country over flawed elections noting that it should be an eye opener for him on the need to conduct transparent elections in his country.

The National Chairman said that PDP is a party that derives its power from the people unlike others that has their powers rested in National leaders and cabals.

He admonished Ogun PDP leaders to ensure that they sustain the new harmony in the party in the state pointing out that, “Ogun state has always been a PDP state but for the unnecessary and avoidable bickering”

Prince Secondus said that Ogun state is significant in the party being the state that produced the first President of the party with other credible leaders.
The high points of the meeting was the apology rendered to the party by the leaders of Senator Kasamu Burji faction who pledged their loyalty and promised never to go astray again.
