Nasarawa Tribunal: Youths Laud Ogbomosho-born Justice Ajayi, Call for Independence of Judiciary

The Youths of Nasarawa State have continued to eulogize and celebrate the efforts of the Ogbomosho-born Judge, Justice Ezekiel Oyeyemi Ajayi for his immense efforts towards ensuring a fair hearing and judgement of the Nasarawa Guber Tribunal, stating that his integrity as the Chairman of the tribunal is evidence that Nigerians should have faith in the Judiciary.

It would be recalled that there were controversies surrounding the Nasarawa State gubernatorial election which led to the governorship election petition tribunal led by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi in Lafia. The three-member tribunal which was set up to oversee the cases presented by Sule Abdullahi of the All Progressives Congress and David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party, ruled against the APC.

According to the reports released on Monday, Justice Ajayi revealed that Mr. Ombugadu presented proofs beyond reasonable doubt that the results of the election was manipulated in favour of the APC, thereby requesting that INEC withdraw the certificate of return issued to Mr. Sule, declare his opposition, Mr. Ombudadu the winner of the election.

While jubilating in the state’s capital, some of the youths who spoke with the Press said the tribunal had proved there is still hope in the judicial system, thereby commending the efforts of Mr. Ajayi for his integrity and re-affirmation that the judiciary is the last hope of common people.

Also on social media, the youth of Nasarawa State gave their opinions on the results released by INEC on the number of votes by APC, stating that Mr. Ombugadu of PDP deserves to win.

They stated further “he would have been offered packages to overthrow the ruling but the judgement is evidence that he is a man of integrity.”

Someone named Wisdom posted on Instagram; “Meet the fearless and incorruptible, Justice Ezekiel Oyeyemi Ajayi, the Chairman of Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, who stood his ground against all odds to deliver judgement that reflects the will and voice of the people.”
