Member Representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has been awarded alongside 9 others as the 10 best lawmakers in the first year of the 10th National Assembly by the NASSNEWS.

NASSNEWS is the number one parliamentary weekly newspaper, covering the 36 states of the House of Assembly across Nigeria, with a mission to bridge the gap between parliament and the general public, facilitate genuine information and educate the masses about lawmakers’ activities across the country.

The NASSNEWS Award is designed to lead phenomenal recognition of legislative and non-legislative achievements in the Nigerian parliament and its allies. According to the Assembly newspaper, recipients are assessed based on their sterling contributions to national development within the auspices of their office to better the lot of the masses.

The No. 1 Parliament Newspaper in Nigeria had written to the office of the lawmaker in September this year noting that Hon. Adepoju was voted massively for the prestigious award due to his brilliant contributions to national issues in the areas including but not limited to parliamentary debates, motions, bills, public hearings, petitions, innovative initiatives with a national development focus, job opportunities for his constituents, education, accessible representation, open-door policy and significant infrastructure improvements from essential amenities to community facilities.

Receiving the award on behalf of the lawmaker at the Senate Building of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Barrister Lekan Awolusi, who is the Senior Legislative Aide to Hon. Adepoju, said the recognition would reinvigorate the lawmaker and his team towards further beneficial service deliveries in favour of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency and Nigeria as a whole.

“Hon. Adepoju expresses his delight receiving this award, and as we earlier indicated to the NASSNEWS in our acceptance letter to them when this award was offered to us. We see this as a recognition of our modest efforts in the service of our constituency, the various constituency projects too numerous to mention here, our motions and bills in the chamber both in favour of our constituency and in our service to our fatherland. We feel highly honoured, and we want to say that this award is going to further reinvigorate and reenergise us towards further beneficial service deliveries in favour of our constituency and Nigeria as a whole,” he remarked.

Other best lawmakers who were also awarded alongside Hon. Adepoju were Sen. Simon Bako Lalong, who represents Plateau South senatorial district. He served as the minister of labour and employment in 2023 and two-term governor of Plateau State (2015 to 2023), Hon. Murtala Usman Banye, representing Batagarawa/Charanchi/Rimi Federal Constituency, Hon. Anthony Mathew Neogu, Hon. Khafilat Ogbara Representing Koshofe Federal Constituency Lagos State, Rt. Hon. Kabiru A. Rurum, Representing Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya Federal Constituency, Barr. J. Okey-Joe Onuakalusi Representing Oshodi/Isolo II Federal Constituency of Lagos State, Sen. Binose Dauda Yaroe Representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, Sen. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, Representing Rivers West Senatorial District, Sen. Rufai Hanga, Representing Kano Central Senatorial District and Sen. Oyewumi K.O., Representing Osun West Senatorial District.
