There was a strong show of solidarity for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) chairmanship candidate in Ogbomoso North, Hon. Rabiu Bello, as party leaders, youths and women rallied behind his candidature ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
As the Oyo council polls approach, Bello, the party’s flagbearer for the chairmanship election, held a series of engagements with party officials and stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen his campaign and mobilise support across the local government.
He first met with members of the APM Local Executive Committee at the party secretariat in Ajagungbade Plaza before joining party members, including the youth and women wings, at a general meeting held at Masifa D.C. School, Orita Naira.
The meetings attracted a large turnout of party leaders, stakeholders and members, who welcomed Bello with solidarity songs and chants in a demonstration of support for his candidature.
The candidate also received enthusiastic ovations at both venues, with party members expressing confidence in his capacity to provide effective leadership if elected chairman of Ogbomoso North.
Addressing the gathering, Bello described Ogbomoso as his home, noting that he obtained his primary and secondary education in the town before proceeding to tertiary institution.
He highlighted his political and public service experience, recalling that he contested the Ogbomoso North State Constituency seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2015.
According to him, he served as Assistant State Secretary of the Makarfi faction of the PDP in 2018, a member of the Governing Council of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, and a member of the Technical Committee for the establishment of the Technical University between 2012 and 2014.
“I am well known in Ogbomoso and I understand how governance works. I have also run my own private business and I know the challenges our people face,” Bello said.
He assured party members that, if elected, his administration would prioritise grassroots development, youth empowerment, women’s inclusion and infrastructure development across Ogbomoso North.
“My nomination as the chairmanship candidate of APM will bring unprecedented development to Ogbomoso North. This will be a government of the people, by the people and for the people. I will serve you well and I will not disappoint you,” he assured.
Speaking on behalf of the party, the APM Chairman in Ogbomoso North, Hon. Sikiru Jimoh, said the local working committee and other organs of the party had resolved to work collectively towards Bello’s victory in the 2026 election.
Jimoh urged party members to remain united and committed to the campaign, stressing the importance of collective efforts in securing victory for the party at the polls.
Among the stakeholders present were Alhaji Edison Garuba, Hon. Shittu Adegoke, Hon. Serifat Kehinde, Women Leader Hon. Shittu Fatimo, Alhaja Bose Hajirat, Hon. Wumi Oguniran, Hon. Kamoru Dauda, Youth Leader, Hon. Adegbite Adeeyo, Mrs. Fabode, Alhaji Bashiru Abdulazeez and Hon. Olubunmi Ojo, alongside the party’s councillorship candidates and supervisors.
The Chief of Staff to the Ogbomoso North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Grace Adejoke, also attended the meeting as the representative of the Executive Chairman, Hon. George Ogunlade.
The show of solidarity at the meetings underscored the mobilisation within the APM in Ogbomoso North, with party members expressing confidence that the party is well positioned to make a strong showing in the forthcoming 2026 local government elections.
