Ogbomoso South LG Boss, Hon Oyedokun Steps up Fight Against Drug Abuse
…Joins NDLEA in Walk Against Drug Menace
In a show of solidarity and commitment to combatting the rising drug abuse problem in the community, the Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon. Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy has participated in a walk organised by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Hon. Timothy’s involvement in this initiative highlights the growing concern over the alarming increase in drug abuse, particularly among youths, and the need for concerted action to address the issue.
During the walk, Timothy stressed the need for community-wide involvement in the fight against drug abuse, stating:
“Drug abuse is not just a law enforcement issue, it is a societal problem that affects us all. We must come together to raise awareness, educate our youth, and provide support to those who are struggling with addiction.”
The walk, which drew participation from various sectors of the community, including local officials, community leaders, and concerned citizens, is part of a larger effort by the NDLEA to curb the spread of drug abuse and raise awareness about the dangers of drug use.
Furthermore, Timothy, along with the NDLEA, has pointed to the growing problem of online drug sales, which have made access to harmful substances easier than ever before, particularly among younger generations.
“We must be vigilant in addressing this new challenge. We are calling on parents, educators, and community members to stay informed and to work together to protect our youth from the dangers of online drug sales,” he said.
