Renowned community leader, traditional title holder, and advocate for national cohesion, Okanlomo Oodua and Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has announced plans to convene a three-day National Security Summit scheduled for February 10–12, 2026, at Ilaji Hotel & Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The high-level summit is conceived as an inclusive platform to confront Nigeria’s persistent security challenges through dialogue, policy exchange, and community-driven solutions. It is expected to draw key stakeholders, including representatives of the Federal Government, members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, security chiefs, traditional rulers from across the 36 states and the FCT, religious leaders, foreign ambassadors, road transport unions, market associations, elder statesmen and women, civil society actors, and youth groups.

Speaking ahead of the event, Chief Sanusi underscored the urgency of collective action, stressing that sustainable security can only be achieved when government institutions collaborate closely with traditional authorities and grassroots communities.

The summit will be held under the theme:
“Restoring Security to Forests, Farms, Villages and Cities: Pathways to Ending National Insecurity in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The programme will feature keynote addresses, expert panel discussions, closed-door strategy sessions, and community engagement forums, all aimed at generating practical, implementable recommendations to curb insecurity, safeguard livelihoods, and strengthen national unity.

Adding royal depth and cultural gravitas to the gathering, the summit will receive royal hosting support from His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, reinforcing the pivotal role of traditional institutions in peacebuilding and Nigeria’s security architecture.

Organisers note that outcomes from the summit will be comprehensively documented and communicated to relevant authorities and stakeholders to inform policy formulation and implementation.
