In a momentous event held yesterday, the Oluwo of Iwo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, presented the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) awards to Akeem Olatunji and Hon ‘RAD’. The ceremony, which took place in Ibadan, was attended by prominent personalities and key stakeholders.

Expressing his gratitude, Akeem Olatunji, a distinguished public servant, thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for the opportunity to serve Oyo state under his administration. He emphasized the significance of this appointment, both personally and politically, and pledged to uphold the governor’s esteemed reputation in all his endeavors.

In addition, Olatunji expressed his sincere appreciation to the organizers of this prestigious event. Recognizing RATTAWU’s longstanding contribution to Oyo state’s development, he felt deeply honored to be selected as a recipient of this esteemed award.

Hon ‘RAD,’ in her address, disclosed her intention to resume her official duties as the Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters to Governor Makinde. She affirmed her commitment to engage and consult extensively with various stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of good governance across all 33 local government areas of the state.

During the event, Mrs. Dotun Olaitan, the Executive Chairman of Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to uphold the Yoruba ‘omoluabi’ ethos that led to their selection. She commended their outstanding contributions within society, which warranted their recognition with these highly esteemed awards.

Comrade Kolapo KeruKeru, Chairman of BCOS chapter of RATTAWU, delivered an address praising the new management and leadership of BCOS under Mrs. Olaitan’s guidance. He extended his congratulations to the awardees, highlighting their remarkable achievements and calling for financial support to complete an ongoing building project.

Dignitaries in attendance included Honorable Babs Oduyoye, a member of the Oyo State Advisory Council, Alhaji Y. K. Abass, the Babaloja General of Oyo State, Alhaji Nureni Akanbi (Arole Iba Oluyole of Ibadanland), and Alhaja Saratu Aduke, representing the Olubadan.

The ceremony concluded on a high note, with the awardees pledging to continue their exemplary service to the people and to uphold the values that earned them this prestigious recognition.
