Your Excellency Sir,
We, the concerned members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ona Ara Local Government, write to you with a unified voice, urging that the 2027 Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Representative ticket be rightfully allocated to Ona Ara Local Government.
Our plea stems from the historical imbalance in representation within the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, which has seen Egbeda Local Government dominate for 20 years, while Ona Ara Local Government has had the opportunity to serve for only 8 years.
The need for fairness and equity in our party’s leadership decisions cannot be overstated. This letter, signed by our group secretary, Mr. David Olumide, emphasizes the urgency and righteousness of our request: It is time for Ona Ara to produce the next representative for our Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
The statement reads: “We believe it is time for Ona Ara Local Government to take its rightful place. As you are aware, the Egbeda-Ona Ara Federal Constituency comprises two Local Government areas. While Egbeda has historically dominated the political landscape, we believe it is time for Ona Ara to take its rightful place. We are not asking for favoritism but rather fairness and equity.”
We respectfully urge you, Governor Makinde, to consider our plea and allocate the 2027 ticket to Ona Ara Local Government. This will ensure fairness and equity in representation, aligning with the values of justice and inclusiveness that have characterized your administration since 2019.
To provide context, we present the following historical data on past representatives of the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency:
– Hon. Jenrade Kareem (Ona-Ara): 1999-2003
– Hon. Adegoke F. Adewale (Egbeda): 2003-2007
– Hon. Adegoke F. Adewale (Egbeda): 2007-2011
– Hon. Olayemi Sikiru Busari (Egbeda): 2011-2015
– Hon. Taiwo Akinola Michael (Ona-Ara): 2015-2019
– Hon. Akinola Adekunle Alabi (Egbeda): 2019-2023
– Hon. Akinola Adekunle Alabi (Egbeda): 2023 till date
As these records show, the representation stands at 5 terms for Egbeda and only 2 for Ona Ara. We implore you to consider the following reasons why the ticket should be allocated to Ona Ara in 2027:
1. Addressing Marginalization: Ona Ara has been marginalized for far too long, and it is time for us to have a representative who truly understands our needs and concerns.
2. Promoting Balance and Equity: Allocating the ticket to Ona Ara will promote balance and equity within the constituency, ensuring that both areas have an equal voice in governance.
