Outcome of Oyo State Executive Council Meeting

 

The Oyo State government has disclosed that the state has only recorded a total of 245 suspected cases of cholera in eleven Local Governments between January 1st 2024 to October 7th 2024.

The State Commissioner for Health Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi made the disclosure while briefing newsmen the outcome of the state executive council Online meeting, presided over by the state governor Engineer Seyi Makinde.

 

Briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state virtual executive council meeting held on Tuesday, the state commissioner for health, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, disclosed that out of the 245 suspected cases of cholera in eleven Local Governments between January 1st 2024 to October 7th 2024, 23 cases of Cholera disease were recorded.

According to Dr Ajetunmobi, as of Monday 7th October only nine persons were still under treatment at Olodo Infectious disease Center, adding that they have only recorded one death.

The Commissioner further informed that The United States agency for international development (USAID) has procured a total of five million six hundred and seventy thousand six hundred and forty four insecticide Mosquitoes treated nets for the state, that would be distributed to the households most especially the vulnerable in the year 2025.

Also Speaking the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun hinted that the Executive Council has approved some of the Programmes his ministry lined up for the last Quarter of the year.

Among the upcoming events listed were the Yemoja Festival at Ile Aperin Gbodu,, Popoyemoja, Ibadan, Omilere Alaragbo Festival at Ayegun Oleyo Ibadan, Oluyole Cultural Carnival, Ibadan, World Twins Festival at Igboora, others are Iyake International Festival at Ado Awaye, Aso Ofi Festival at Iseyin and Maiden edition of Ogbomoso Global Cultural Carnival.

Dr Olatunbosun maintained that the state government would continue to use the Cultural Tourism Sector as a veritable means in sustaining and expanding the economy of the State as outlined in the Omituntun 2.0 agenda.

The event had in attendance the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Chief Press Secretary to the state Governor, Dr Sulaiman Olanrewaju, and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast Media, Mrs Bose Sodiq.
