As the 2027 general elections draw near, Hon Kolade Olagunju, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, is poised to announce his candidacy for the upcoming poll.
According to a statement released to journalists in Ibadan, Hon. Olagunju’s decision to declare his intention stems from his commitment to provide selfless service to his constituents by participating in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primary processes.
The statement noted that the decision resulted from thorough consultations with key stakeholders and party members who are essential factors in the party’s electoral processes.
With a proven track record of service to the people of Akinyele Local Government, especially Constituency 1, in the Oyo State House of Assembly between 2011 and 2015, Hon. Olagunju is anticipated to utilize his vast knowledge in administration and politics to drive much-needed development in the state.
During his tenure as a member of the Oyo State Assembly, Honourable Kolade Olagunju presented several motions and bills which were pivotal to the development of his constituency and the state, including a notable motion for the construction of the Akingbile-Oluana roads.
As a community-focused leader, he spearheaded initiatives to construct classroom blocks, motorized borehole projects, and periodic empowerment programs benefiting Constituency 1 and the broader Akinyele Local Government.
Aside from these, Hon. Olagunju, a life coach, also facilitated government job placements for constituency members between 2011 and 2015.
As a trained broadcaster and education consultant, the former lawmaker has maintained a consistent record of empowering people throughout his term in office and beyond his service in the Oyo Assembly.
The foundation of his declaration to contest on the platform of PDP lies in his notable accomplishments and the unprecedented success achieved under Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership.
His campaign motto, “Service and Happiness” was conceived out of his quest to bring happiness and joy to the hearts and homes of the electorate by providing quality service to the people of the state through his vast experience in the political field, entrepreneurship
and his heart of giving back to the society, which he has been known for over the past few decades.
Hon. Olagunju, marking another milestone on February 4th, will seize the occasion to declare his intentions and outline plans for the populace in the impending election.
