Oyo 2027: Makinde’s Ally, Otunba Seye Famojuro Receives Sarafadeen Alli’s Loyalists, ADC Chairmanship, Councilorship Candidates
In a significant development that could reshape the political landscape of Oyo State, Otunba Seye Famojuro, a close ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, has received a group of prominent politicians and party officials who were once loyal to Senator Sarafadeen Alli.
The defection was facilitated by Hon Ademola Omotoso, the political heavyweight who serves as Chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation.
These defectors included former chairmanship and councilorship candidates from the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) party.
He brought the decampees from ward 3 in Ibadan North Local Government to Otunba Seye Famojuro, a close ally of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The defection of these politicians to Governor Makinde’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a major blow to the All Progressives Congress, APC, which had been hoping to challenge the incumbent in the 2027 elections.
The development is likely to strengthen the PDP’s position in the state and provide a boost to the Governor’s re-election bid.
Otunba Seye Famojuro, known for his political acumen and leadership skills in a statement, said: “We are pleased to welcome these distinguished individuals to our party.”
“This shift in allegiance points to the growing appeal of the PDP’s progressive agenda, and its ability to attract like-minded individuals to its ranks.”
“Their decision to align with the PDP shows that they recognize the positive impact our administration has had on Oyo State. With their support, we will continue to push for positive change and build a brighter future for all.”
“We look forward to working with them to continue driving progress and development in dear our state.”
Addressing the gathering under the name of Majiyagbe, the group representative, Hon. Kazeem Alimi, APC leader in Ward 3 and Hon Timothy Ojo Lanre (Ex-officio, APC LG Exco), Ibadan North, stated that their move to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) marked a positive shift in their political journey.
“We believe that our contributions to the previous party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), were not valued or appreciated.”
“However, we have faith that Otunba Seye and the PDP will recognize our dedication and reward us for our hard work.”
He said Hon Ademola Omotoso is a grassroots politician who is capable of accommodating all tendencies in his camp
Meanwhile, they expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome they had received from the PDP, with many of them expressing optimism that their work would not go unrecognized under the new party.
This statement reflects the enthusiasm of the PDP for the influx of new members and suggests that the party is confident in its ability to achieve its goals with their support.
