Oyo APC Crisis Lingers as Ajimobi Orders Refund of Aspirants’ Fee

 

The Oyo State Executives Council of All Progressives Congress (APC), are under fire as the Deputy National Chairman (South), of the party, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has ordered the State EXCO to return the money collected from the local government aspirants during the local government election in 2018.

The immediate past governor of the state made the order on Saturday at his residence while holding meeting with party stakeholders immediately after he attended a radio programme in Ibadan, the state capital.

Those in attendance at the meeting include the party executives, local government aspirants, local government chairmen and their vices, party executives and other leaders of the party at local and state levels.

According to a reliable party source who was at the meeting, Ajimobi
stated that at this present moment, there is need to rebuild the party in the state and the best way to do this is to pacify those that are aggrieved on what happened in the past.

According to the source, the deputy national chairman told them that the EXCO should right the wrongs and appease the chairmanship and councillorship aspirants the EXCO collected money from.

“And the only way to start with, is to refund their money. Chairmanship aspirants paid a minimum of N300, 000 each while councillors paid N90, 000 each. But at the end of it all, there was no primaries”, the source said.

The source stressed that Ajimobi declared point blank that the state EXCO should go and look for the money by all means and refund the money to the aspirants because the party cannot pinpoint what the money was used for

Ajimobi maintained that the only way to redress all the issues within the party is to first return all what is due to everyone back to them

Ajimobi stated that, “Plans are afoot for all the factions to come together. The state, local government , ward EXCOs would be tinkered with to accommodate all”, the source disclosed

At the meeting, the deputy national chairman acknowledged the importance of getting slot of chairman of a federal board with close relationship to Bola Tinubu, the source hinted.
