The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed the Sharafite Movement, a grassroots support group founded by Hon. Abayomi Olajide, popularly known as Royal Umbrella, as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced on Monday during a courtesy visit by Olajide and members of the movement to the Oyo State APC Executive Committee in Ibadan, where they were received by the State Chairman, Dr. Moses Adeyemo Alake, alongside other members of the party’s State Executive.
Olajide formally introduced the SHARAFITE Movement to the party leadership as a broad-based support platform established to mobilise support for the election of the APC governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, as Governor of Oyo State in 2027, while also supporting the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, the movement has established a grassroots presence across the 33 Local Government Areas and 351 wards of Oyo State, with a focus on political awareness, mobilisation and support for the APC.
He said the movement would also mobilise support for other APC candidates contesting the Senate, House of Representatives and Oyo State House of Assembly elections.
Royal Umbrella said the movement was committed to building a united and effective grassroots structure capable of delivering electoral victory for the party.
“We believe that a united and well-organised grassroots structure remains critical to the success of the APC in the forthcoming elections,” he said.
Responding, the Oyo State APC Chairman, Dr. Moses Adeyemo Alake, commended Olajide for his commitment and loyalty to the party, as well as his visible contributions despite the relatively short period since joining the APC.
Alake assured the SHARAFITE Movement that the party leadership would recognise its contributions and continue to carry its members along in the activities and engagements of the party.
A major highlight of the visit was the official endorsement of the SHARAFITE Movement by the Oyo APC chairman as a recognised support group within the party’s structure in the state.
Olajide and members of his team were subsequently introduced to the 33 APC Local Government Chairmen who were present at the meeting, further strengthening the connection between the movement and the party’s grassroots structures.
The meeting ended with both the SHARAFITE Movement and the Oyo APC leadership reaffirming their commitment to party unity, grassroots mobilisation and the collective success of the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
