The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday conducted peaceful congress across the three senatorial districts in the State.
The districts are Oyo South with nine local governments; Oyo Central with 11 local governments and Oyo North with 13 local governments respectively.
Our correspondent who monitored the exercise in Oyo Federal constituency comprising Atiba, Oyo East, Oyo West and Afijio observed that party faithful trooped out as early as 7am to the designated venues.

While some local governments conducted their primaries in the early hours of Monday, others delayed it till about 3pm to allow for uninterrupted academic activities where the school premises had been designated as venue for the primaries.

Early reports show that serving Senator Yunus Akintunde participated in Oyo Central district primary and was counted alongside his hundreds of supporters in the Ward 10 of Oyo West Local Government.

Also in Oyo South and Oyo North districts, the poll was peaceful generally.
Last Saturday, the Chairman, APC National Assembly Primaries Elections Committee for Oyo state, Prof. Mojeed Alabi said the exercise across the state was rancor free.
Addressing newsmen at the Oyo APC party secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, Alabi, who was a former Speaker of the Osun state House of Assembly said the duty of the Committee was to superintend over the conduct of the party primaries across all wards in the 14 federal constituencies that represent Oyo State in the House of Representatives.
He explained that primaries were conducted in each of the wards comprising each of the federal constituencies in the 14 federal constituencies in Oyo State.
Alabi said, “Our work is to superintend, collate, ensure that things are done properly, and transmit our report to the national executive of the party.
“It is the national executive of the party that has the final authority to declare the results of the election.
“On our part, we have gone through and seen that there is no rancor anywhere. Our committee is also conscious of the fact that we also have a body that is still monitoring our own work. So, we cannot afford to let the party down or to let the country down.
“Therefore, we will do our best to ensure that within the limits of available resources and logistics, we will be transparent to all manner of persons, all aspirants involved, without fear or favour, affection or ill will, in such a manner that at the end of the day, we will have reached our individual and collective needs in good.”
