The Director-General of the Oyo State Women Wing of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Apex Campaign Committee in Oyo state, Hon. Ramata Agberemi, Dabo (RAD), has held a strategic meeting with media stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s communication strategy and commence an effective grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections. Westernmirror reports.

The meeting had in attendance media practitioners, online political influencers, and other stakeholders, focused on the need for a coordinated communication framework capable of effectively projecting the party’s programmes, policies and candidates while deepening engagement with women and other critical segments of the electorate across the state.

The Director-General, Hon. Dabor, who is the Senior Special Assistant to governor Seyi Makinde, on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, said the engagement was part of her committee’s wider strategy to establish a strong media network that would complement the party’s grassroots mobilisation structure and ensure that its message reaches voters across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.

According to her, the media remains a critical component of any successful political mobilisation and campaign, particularly in an election cycle where information, public engagement and effective communication can significantly shape voters’ understanding of political programmes and candidates.

She stressed the importance of moving beyond conventional campaign activities by developing a sustained communication strategy that would take advantage of both mainstream and digital media platforms to reach different categories of voters.

The meeting also examined ways of building stronger collaboration between the campaign committee and media stakeholders, with emphasis on responsible political communication, timely dissemination of information and effective countering of misinformation.

The DG disclosed that the women’s wing of the Apex campaign committee would soon roll out a comprehensive mobilisation plan designed to strengthen its presence at the grassroots across the 33 local government areas and increase the participation of women in the political process.

She noted that women constitute a critical and significant component of the electorate and therefore deserve to occupy a central position in the party’s mobilisation architecture ahead of the 2027 elections.

She said the proposed mobilisation strategy would focus on reaching women at the ward and local government levels, strengthening existing structures and also creating platforms through which women could actively participate in the party’s campaign activities.

The APM women’s wing, she added, would work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure that its mobilisation efforts are inclusive, organised and sustained throughout the election cycle.

She urged media practitioners to see themselves as important partners in the political process and to support efforts aimed at promoting issue-based engagement and informed participation by the electorate.

According to her, the meeting is expected to crystallize the beginning of a strategic media engagement programme by the Oyo State women’s wing of the APM Apex Campaign Committee as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections.

She added that the committee is also expected to unveil further details of its mobilisation programme in the coming days, with the women’s wing positioning itself to play a major role in the party’s grassroots campaign and voter engagement strategy across Oyo State.

She particularly expressed appreciation to governor Makinde and leadership of the party for the trust reposed in her with the task ahead, while also assuring that no stone will be left unturned in her committee’s mobilization drive to ensure resounding victory for all the candidates under the platform of the APM in Oyo state.
