OYO ASSEMBLY CRISIS: Principal Officers Distance Selves From Speaker’s Decision on Akinajo

The decision taken by the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Adebo Ogundoyin to sack the House Committee Chairman on Works and Transport, Hon. Olamide Olagoke Akinajo during plenary this Tuesday, has been described as harsh, unilateral and needless.

Some of the Principal Officers who spoke with GOALPOACHER NEWS after plenary said,
“It was a unilateral decision of his. He didn’t consult the Principal Officers before taking the decision”

Another Principal Officer said,
“This action could trigger crisis in which the outcome cannot be ascertained. The Speaker didn’t follow the House’s rules of consulting the selection committee”

Attempts by GOALPOACHER NEWS to speak with the Speaker, Ogundoyin and the Chairman Parliamentary Council, Ayotunde Fatokun on the raging matter, proved abortive as the duo refused to pick their calls and failed to respond to messages sent to them.

The Speaker, Debo Ogundoyin on Tuesday announced House Committee Chairman on Appropriation, Hon. Olatunde Kehinde representing Akinyele Constituency 2, as replacement for Akinajo who represents Ibadan North East Constituency 1.
