In a decisive move to address underutilized government estates, the Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Lands and Housing has directed the state’s Housing Corporation to revoke all allocations of undeveloped plots from allottees unwilling to commence development.

The directive was issued during the committee’s working visit to the Corporation on Monday, March 3, 2025.

The Lawmakers expressed disappointment over the state of several government estates, many of which have remained undeveloped despite allocations being made years ago.

The committee emphasized the need for urgent action, mandating the Corporation to revoke plots that have been allocated for over ten years without any sign of development.

It further instructed that such plots be reallocated to individuals or entities ready to commence construction immediately.

Beyond revocation, the lawmakers also underscored the importance of infrastructural development within these estates.

They urged the Corporation to open up roads and provide essential amenities to encourage allottees to begin construction without further delays.

The oversight visit to Housing Corporation was led by the House Committee Chairman on Lands and Housing, Hon. Dele Adeola, alongside Hon. Razak Mabaje, Hon Oladeji Oparinde, Hon. Comforter Olufunke and Hon Adebayo Babajide marks a renewed commitment by the Oyo State Assembly to ensure optimal land utilization and urban development across the state.
