The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Makinde on Diaspora Affairs, Bolanle Sarumi on Friday revealed that a group of professionals known as OMITUNTUN INITIATIVE IN THE DIASPORA donated a sum of #1 million to the fund raising appeal set up by her office.

Hon Bolanle stated this at a press briefing held at the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Secretariat, Ibadan.

She noted that the fund raising appeal would be channelled to the repatriation and rehabilitation of trafficked victims who are citizens of Oyo State.

“As we speak, there are about 141 of Nigerians that are in Lebanon, 41 of them are indigenes of Oyo State who are willing to return home.”

“Diaspora’s Office would need humongous amount to bring the 41 victims home and get them rehabilitated. I have been going to Abuja and Lagos lately to seek further collaboration with relevant stakeholders on how we could bring the trafficked victims home.”

While expressing her gratitude to OMITUNTUN INITIATIVE IN THE DIASPORA for the cash donation, Hon Bolanle used the occasion to call on well meaning Nigerians to reach out to the government through her office and assist those that had indicated to return home from the trauma they experience daily in Lebanon.

She urged other potential donors to contact her office for more details.

OID also presented  awards to Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubanwo Adeosun, SSA on Diaspora Affairs, Hon Bolanle Sarumi and Special Assistant on Youths and Sport,Hon Kazeem Bolarinwa.
