Oyo Enviromental Task Force Rakes in N6m in Three Months- ACP Ojomo
Oyo State environmental task force on Monday says a special tribunal has prosecuted and sentenced 10 individuals for dumping refuse indiscriminately.
The offenders were arrested at different locations in the state and were tried by the environmental taskforce tribunal today at the environmental taskforce office.
The commissioner for Environment and nNatural Resources, Barrister Idowu Oyeleke, while speaking with journalist restated that the state would continue to arrest those who want to sabotage the effort of the government in achieving clean, safe and healthy environment Oyo state.
In his remarks, the Special Assistant to Governor seyi makinde on youth and sports and also the member and representative of the newly constituted taskforce team of environment in Oyo State, Hon. Kazeem Bolarinwa, noted that the newly constituted environmental committee would ensure that environmental law defaulters will be arrested and prosecuted.
While the chairman Oyo state environmental taskforce, assistant commissioner of police, Francis Ojomo, said that the expectation of the taskforce from the people is change of attitude.
Ojomo noted that the Task force has made the sum of N6m and prosecuted over 200 individuals since its inauguration three months ago.
