In its continued effort to maintain a clean and healthy environment, the Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, has arrested ten individuals for illegally dumping refuse on the road median in different parts of Ibadan.

The offenders were arraigned before Justice Agbefarin, for contravening the provisions of the Oyo State Environmental Sanitation and Waste Management Law, 2004, which prohibits indiscriminate disposal of waste and promotes proper waste handling practices within the state.

Speaking on the development, a spokesperson for the Ministry reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment across all zones of the state.

“Residents are hereby urged to patronize accredited waste collectors and report any service lapses through the appropriate channels instead of dumping refuse on the road median,” the Ministry stated.

The statement further noted that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility and urged residents to join hands with the government in achieving a cleaner and healthier Oyo State.

The Ministry reiterated that its environmental enforcement team will continue routine monitoring and enforcement in line with the Oyo State Environmental Sanitation and Waste Management Law, aimed at ensuring total compliance and behavioral change among residents.
