OYO GOVERNMENT GIVES MARKETS 7-DAY ULTIMATUM TO COMPLY WITH DIRECTIVES AGAINST COVID-19 OR RISK TOTAL LOCKDOWN

 

The Oyo state government has given a 7-day ultimatum to all markets in the state to comply with its COVID-19 preventive measures as any market that fail to comply will be shutdown and its leaders will be sanctioned.

Governor Makinde stated this on Monday through his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Retired CP Fatai Owoseni during a meeting and symbolic presentation of face masks and sanitizers to market leaders in Oyo state, held at the state Ministry of information, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Retired CP Owoseni, maintained that COVID-19 Task Force Compliance team will commence an aggressive patrol round markets in the state starting from Monday 27th April, 2020 and any market found not complying with the State government directives to prevent community infection of the dreaded virus will be dealt with and made to face the full wrath of the law.

He added that anyone who flout the state Dusk to Dawn curfew order will be forced to spend a night with the Security operatives or made to offer a compulsory community service.

In his opening remark, the state commissioner for information, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, asked the market leaders to replicate the hand washing samples, face masks, amongst other COVID-19 preventive materials given to them.

Representatives of the various markets present at the meeting, applauded the state government for the initiative and pledged to ensure their members comply within the specified time frame.

Other top government officials at the venue include, the Special Adviser on Media, Jide Ajani, the lawmaker representing Oluyole, Francis Adetunji, House Committee Chairman on Media, Kazeem Olayanju and the Caretaker Chairman, Ibadan North Local Government.
