Oyo Government Pays N1.3bn to 573 Pensioners
The Oyo state government, on Monday, presented gratuity cheques of #1.3Billion to 573 retired primary school teachers and retired local government staff across the state.
The event which took place at the state water corporation building, secretariat, Ibadan had in attendance top government officials, retired teachers of 2011/2012 set and retired local government staff of 2014 set.
While presenting the gratuity cheques to the retired workers, the chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board, honorable Remi Ayodele, explained that about 449 alive pensioners and 124 next-of-kins to late pensioners are privileged to benefit from the largesse.
In his remark, the Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, comrade Titilola Sodo, who noted that the payment of retired teachers and retired Local Government Staff has entered 4th tranche since the inception of the governor Seyi Makinde led administration, appealed to retired workers who are yet to get their benefit not to be discouraged, rather, they should be hopeful.
While speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries of the gratuity, the executive secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioner (NUP), Oyo state chapter, comrade Olusegun Abatan, acknowledged Governor Seyi Makinde’s responsive disposition to lifting the spirit of retired workers in the state.
