The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Dr Adebola Hamzat, has told the Commissioner for Information Prince Dotun Oyelade that the State Government has set a record in it’s efforts to protect her citizens.

During a fact-finding courtesy call by the Information Commissioner to the Police boss at his Eleyele office in Ibadan, Hamzat highlighted the invaluable support provided by Governor Makinde in strengthening the security architecture in the state through the donation of 120 vehicles, the provision of modern day communication gadgets and personal motivation for the officers and men of the command.

According to the Police boss, the modern day gadgets procured for the Police by Gov. Seyi Makinde has enabled him and other senior colleagues to monitor happenings in Oyo State from any part of the federation.

During the courtesy call, the information commissioner, Prince oyelade, said that from research no state government in the federation has done more for the protection of it’s citizens than Governor Seyi Makinde and this is why Oyo State remains one of the safest states in the country today.

The information commissioner said that apart from other infrastructures that are being put in place, the atmosphere of peace is also rubbing off positively on the commerce and economic development of Oyo State.

The Commissioner of Police agreed with Prince Oyelade and said that in all the eight states where he had served as commissioner, none is as peaceful as Oyo State.

The Commissioner of Police said that community policing has been highly successful to combat crime in Oyo State because the Governor gives Policemen extra incentives and motivation apart from their regular salaries, while the populace is generally happy to cooperate with the Police.

He urged residents of Oyo State to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities by calling the emergency number 615 in case of emergency.

Dr. Adebola Hamzat said that the current administration in Oyo State is in the good books of Police hierarchy throughout Nigeria because of the successful hosting of over 4,000 Policemen during the 2024 Police Games which held in Ibadan early in the year.
