A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Oladeji Oparinde, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for awarding the reconstruction of the 4-kilometre Idi-Igba-Akinmorin Road in Afijio Local Government Area, to the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), describing the decision as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to promoting local content and direct labour in project execution.
The lawmaker, in a statement on Thursday said the governor’s confidence in OYSROMA reflects the administration’s determination to strengthen state-owned institutions while ensuring that public infrastructure projects are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards.
Oparinde also lauded the approval of OYSROMA as the executing agency under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Hon. Busoye Ogunlade, whom he described as a worthy son of Ilora with the competence and experience required to deliver the project successfully.
”I want to sincerely appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for entrusting the reconstruction of the Idi-Igba-Akinmorin Road to OYSROMA. This decision is a clear testament to his belief in local capacity, the promotion of direct labour and the strengthening of state institutions,” Oparinde said.
According to the lawmaker, the governor’s decision to engage OYSROMA would not only guarantee value for money but also create opportunities for local professionals and workers to contribute to the state’s development.
He noted that the project would significantly improve road connectivity, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and stimulate commercial and agricultural activities within Ilora and neighbouring communities.
”The Executive Chairman of OYSROMA, Hon. Busoye Ogunlade, is a committed and competent administrator. As a son of the soil, he understands the importance of this road to our people, and I have no doubt that he will deliver a quality project that will stand the test of time,” he added.
Oparinde further stated that the Makinde administration has continued to distinguish itself through policies that encourage indigenous participation in governance and infrastructure development, saying the approach has strengthened public confidence in government projects.
He urged residents of Idi-Igba-Akinmorin and adjoining communities to cooperate with OYSROMA throughout the construction period, stressing that collective support would ensure the successful and timely completion of the road.
