Following the sudden deaths of some of their members in recent months, Supervisors for Local Governments in Oyo State gathered on Wednesday to offer a special interfaith prayer session for divine protection over them and the entire citizens of Oyo State.

The solemn prayer session, held at Ibadan South East Local Government Secretariat, Mapo, brought together Supervisors, council members, religious leaders, and concerned residents.
The event was organised by Local Government Supervisors in response to what many have described as a “mysterious wave of deaths” affecting Local Government Supervisors.
Religious leaders from both Christian and Muslim communities led prayers for safety, guidance, and long life for the Supervisors and the entire citizens of Oyo State.

In his speech, the State Coordinator for Local Government Supervisors, Hon. Alarape Imam from Ibadan South West Local Government said the prayer session is necessary in light of recent events.”We felt the need to seek God’s protection. We have lost good people. It’s time we come together in prayer” he added.

In his speech, the Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and encouraged all Supervisors to remain strong and committed to their duties despite the challenges.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleagues, but we must not be discouraged. This prayer session is a reminder that we must support each other spiritually, emotionally, and physically,” He said.

Hon. Alawode then prayed for God’s divine protection over the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, all the Political Functionaries and that God should cancel every form of untimely death, and restore peace across the State.

The State Coordinator, Hon. Alarape Imam and Ibadan South East Local Government Coordinator, Hon. Folagbade Adeleke Musibau both appreciated the council boss, Hon. Alawode for the warmth reception, describing him as a responsible and compassionate leader.
The session ended with a minute of silence in honour of the departed.
