In a bid to create more job opportunities and economic development for residents of Oyo State, the Director-General, Liaison Offices, Abuja and Lagos, Hon. Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji popularly known as OTOPE has partnered with the Federal Civil Service Commission and the National Bureau Of Statistics to explore potential avenues for job creation.

He stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the duo of the Chairman, Federal Civil Service Commission, Prof. Tunji Olaopa and the Statistician-General of the Federation/CEO, National Bureau Of Statistics, Prince Adeyemi Adeniran at their respective offices in Abuja.

OTOPE said the purpose of his visits to the duo was to create partnership with their offices and to reduce unemployment by working with the relevant agencies of the Federal Government to identify job opportunities for people of the state.

According to him, the partnership would focus on identifying job opportunities in various sectors of the economy.

He further hinted that the partnership between the Oyo Liaison Office and the stated federal government parastatals is also aimed at providing skills training for unemployed residents of the state, with the goal
of making the people of Oyo more competitive in the labor market.

Hon Temitope added that the partnership would also focus on connecting job seekers with potential employers in the state.

He posited that Oyo is exploring the possibility of obtaining grants from the Federal Government to help the people of the state start and grow businesses.

“We believe that access to funding is a key factor in creating jobs and improving the economy of the state,” adding that the office would also work with other state agencies to promote entrepreneurship and facilitate access to funding for small businesses.

Responding, the Chairman, Federal Civil Service Commission, Prof. Tunji Olaopa highlighted the Federal Civil Service Commission’s role in promoting development in Oyo State and other parts of the country.

He said that the Commission is working to recruit and train the best and brightest people to work in the civil service, and to ensure that public servants have the skills and knowledge they need to effectively serve the people.

“We are committed to ensuring that the civil service is a source of strength and stability for Nigeria,” Olaopa said.

He added that the commission is working to strengthen the capacity of state and local governments to deliver quality services to their citizens.

“The Federal Government cannot do it alone. We need to work together with the State government and the people of Oyo State to achieve our shared goals.”

He expressed confidence that, with the right mix of policies, programmes and support from the people, Oyo State could achieve its full potential and become a model for other states in Nigeria.

On his part, Prince Adeyemi Adeniran expressed the National Bureau of Statistics’ support of the Federal Government’s efforts in Oyo State.

He noted that the NBS is working to improve the quality and availability of data on the state’s economy, and would be collaborating with the Oyo State Liaison Office to make this data more accessible to the public.

Adeniran added that the NBS is also committed to supporting the state’s efforts to improve its business environment and attract investment.

“We are here to provide the necessary data and analysis to help Oyo State achieve its development goals,” Adeniran said.
