OYRTMA BOSS, AKIN FAGBEMI ATTENDS 2021 REGIONAL FOOD SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY SUMMIT IN ABUJA

…Calls on relevant stakeholders to become more visible in tackling food insecurity.

The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) Mogaji Akin Fagbemi PhD who doubles as the National Secretary of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST), this Tuesday, 8th June, 2021 attended the 7th Regional Food Science and Technology Summit tagged ‘2021 Abuja ReFoST’.

The event which was attended by a wide spectrum of stakeholders across the food value-chain aimed at addressing various topical issues on Food Processing, Packaging, Food Safety and Consumer Advocacy.

“Repositioning the Nigerian Food System for Wealth and Job Creation in a Post Covid-19 Era” was the carefully selected theme of the occasion and was exclusively justified by industry experts, relevant political officeholders, academia and food scientists drawn from all walks of life.

At the event, Dr. Fagbemi joined other speakers to reiterate the call for stakeholders especially food scientists to become more visible in efforts aimed at tackling food wastage, ineffective processing, bad packaging et. al in a bid to achieving food security and sustainability in a post covid-19 era.
He further expressed optimism that owing to the vast potentials of Nigeria, food security is achievable if the needful is done in engaging the right professionals along the food value chain.

The event, which also marked the Nigerian Institute of Science and Technology Day 2021 was held at the Raw Materials Research and development Council, (RMRDC) Maitama, Abuja.
